CHR has been at the same location on Johns Island, one of the many barrier islands located in the Low Country of South Carolina, since 1988. Owned and operated by Charles Hudson, the shop specializes in the service, repair, and restoration of Harley Davidson motorcycles. In the early years the majority of the work focused on the restoration of early Flathead, Knuckle, Pan, Shovel, and Iron Head models. As time passed, more performance-oriented jobs, along with custom ground-up builds, became the norm. After racing in the AHDRA streetclasses, then pro-mod class for a few years, more attention and time was spent on street and racing high-performance. These days there is no norm; the work covers a wide spectrum of customer needs.
With the huge advances in computer controls for fuel injection along with some great cad/cnc work being done on engine and chassis components, the performance upgrades and custom designs for the Twin Cams and Sportsters are unlimited.
There are still a lot of the early twins that need attention as well, so CHR continues with all levels of specialty work.
